About Amoy Jewelry
Amoy was spun out from our sister Chinese brand, Dongchang, which has been operating in mainland China since 2012.
Husband-wife founders Sol and Wen originally met at the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts, one of China's finest institutes of design and art. Wen obtained a masters in jewelry design in France, and focuses on jewelry design while Sol handles, well, everything else.
The couple eschewed a typical wedding and instead pooled their savings to establish their first store in Shenzhen in 2012. Today, they run a small boutique store in Shenzhen's Nantou Ancient City and are exploring plans to expand to the modern metropolis of Shanghai.
Amoy, which is the Portuguese transliteration of the beautiful coastal city of Xiamen, was launched in 2023 to adapt Sol's and Wen's minimalist jewelry designs for a global audience.
Where We Draw Our Inspiration From
We are very much artists first.
We conceptualize each and every collection with a few simple sketches on paper, later breathing life into them in the form of art gallery designs. Only afterwards do we mold them into exquisite jewelry designs for our customers.
Our Feline collection began as sketches of cats playing with balls. Our Sketch collection celebrates the beauty of the female body through continuous-line wire art. And our Red Dust collection fuses historical Chinese elements — like golden Buddha heads — with modern abstract art concepts to craft distinctly unique designs for a 21st century audience.
What We Believe
Jewelry should mean something. Every piece in our collection is inspired by a specific cultural symbol — the Hulu gourd for fortune and protection, the Red Dust pendant for resilience and beauty, the Cat & Ball for playfulness and curiosity. When you wear Amoy, you're not just wearing jewelry. You're carrying a piece of cultural heritage.
Design should be intentional. We design for the modern woman who wants jewelry that transitions from desk to dinner, from weekday to weekend. Minimalist enough for the workplace, distinctive enough to start a conversation.
Art comes first. Before any piece becomes jewelry, it starts as a sketch on paper. We are artists who happen to make jewelry — not the other way around.

- Gold Vermeil: Gold plating over sterling silver — durable, tarnish-resistant, and made for daily wear
- Jade: Genuine jade stones in emerald green and ruby red, each selected for color and quality
- Cultural motifs: Hulu gourds, cat figures, body sketches, Buddha-inspired forms, and other symbols from Chinese art and folklore
